My very first part time job was in a community pharmacy in Hawthorn and, from the very first day, I loved it and was determined to make Pharmacy my chosen career. I studied at the Victorian Pharmacy College and proceeded to work in community pharmacy in a variety of roles. I bought my first pharmacy in 1992 and have moved, redeveloped, upgraded and provided opportunities for concept stores over the years since then. I am currently a partner in one pharmacy from where we operate our new business, Willby's, which is a business devoted to offering advice, support and treatment solutions to exhausted mums with babies suffering from the symptoms of wind, colic and reflux. Willby's is the result of building a pharmacy niche which exhibited the need for more time and focus. In 1997 I established Pharm-A-Temp Pty Ltd which was the first fee for service locum agency for pharmacists and pharmacy staff in Victoria. I negotiated to take over the database of locums from Sigma Pty Ltd and Pharm-A-Temp is still operating supplying locum and permanent staff to pharmacies all over Victoria.Over the years I have studied marketing with Pharmacy Power, been to dozens of business seminars to improve my business skills and kept up with professional development as required by the Pharmacy Board of Victoria.I served on the Board of Guardian Pharmacies Australia and was elected as the first ever female Chair, a position I held until Guardian was resorbed into the Sigma network and then I continued on the Member Advisory Committee.I also serve as deputy chair on the board of our local Bendigo Community Bank.
