Profile bio

About Galen Jackson

I’m a registered respiratory therapist with 23 years experience as a staff therapist. Early in my career I focused on neonatal intensive care, but soon learned that the more areas I could work, the more in-demand I was. I grew to really enjoy the variety. I spent nine years working in a long-term acute care hospital, and have just moved back to a regular hospital in Salt Lake City.During my career, I've seen dramatic developments in respiratory care; major improvements in ventilators, vent modes, patient synchrony, reductions in VAP/acute lung injury, new drugs that reduce critical incidents and improve patient comfort, and generally improved patient outcomes. Personally, I was privileged to be part of several major initiatives at Intermountain American Fork Hospital, including helping to set up a sleep lab, then achieving some of the highest-quality studies in the system, as well as initiating new protocols in pediatric asthma care and infant bronchiolitis care, including a 24/7 outpatient clinic. I felt especially proud of the work we did in newborn early lung recruitment, initiating and refining protocols to recognize, treat, and ideally mitigate RDS and acute lung injury in newborns. I’m honored to have been part of that effort with people of the highest caliber.I score highly on colleague evaluations for being personable and easy to work with, and from patients (and their families) for taking care of them competently and with care. Managers praised my tendency to recognize problems and take the initiative to find solutions on my own. I get great satisfaction from doing that. Away from work, I enjoy riding and fixing off-highway vehicles and other machinery, and doing home repairs. I also enjoy writing, drawing, and painting.I genuinely enjoy my patients and my professional colleagues.Employers are welcome to reach me on my cell phone (via text) at 801-205-6360, or via any other options available through this site, including email-- gjacksonrrt@gmail.com
