Summer Research InternSlac National Accelerator Laboratory Jun 2013 - Aug 2013Menlo Park, California, UsI worked as a summer intern on the Heavy Photon Search (HPS) collaboration. I used Monte Carlo simulations of large experimental data sets in order to design powerful analysis strategies. Using CERN's data analysis framework ROOT (C++), I investigated multi-dimensional maximum likelihood fits and background-reducing parameter space cuts in order to maximize signal yield and statistical significance.
