Hello, my name is Galen Argyle. I recently graduated SUNY University at Buffalo with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in Spring of 2023 and I am now a Biological Sciences Master's Student at the SUNY University at Buffalo. I also recently completed the Army ROTC Program at Canisius College and commissioned into the New York Army National Guard as a Chemical Officer stationed in Buffalo, New York. My future goal is to be a licensed physician. During my time as an Undergraduate Student at UB, I participated in many academic experiences. As apart of my Internship experience at DENT Neurologic Institute, I developed a retrospective cohort study that examined the efficacy of Medical Cannabis use for Dementia patients. As shown in my Research Poster, I found that my study suggests that Medical Cannabis may have positive effects on the symptomology profile of Dementia patients with little side effects. Prior to my internship, I collaborated in research at UBMD Sports Concussion Management Research Center on projects regarding concussion test protocols and sensor data test measures. Through both experiences of research, I developed the ability to conduct data analysis and collection and a proficiency in data collection systems. Through my undergraduate coursework, I completed pre-medical courses, such as Gross Anatomy, Biology, Neuroanatomy, Neuroscience, Physiology, Physics, and General Chemistry. Along with the courses, I also completed the respective labs for those courses. As an Army ROTC Cadet at Canisius College, I had numerous experiences working in leadership positions and team development environments. In the Golden Griffin Battalion, I have had the experience of being a 2-Year Team Captain for an ROTC extracurricular activity known as Ranger Challenge. As the captain of the GGBN Ranger Challenge team, I was responsible for identifying, recruiting, and training group members. I was also responsible for weekly training plans, team budgets, and transportation to and from the Ranger Challenge competition. During my time as an ROTC Cadet, I also had the experience of being a Platoon Leader in simulated Infantry Tactics at Fort Knox, KY. I also was selected to experience the life of a Field Artillery Officer in Honolulu, Hawaii during the Summer of 2022. All in all, I plan to use the knowledge of my undergraduate and graduate coursework from SUNY University at Buffalo and my leadership exprience from my time as an Army ROTC Cadet and Army National Guard Chemical Officer to grow into a future physician in the field of Neurology.
