As a member of the Information Systems & Technology Department, I help design and build customizations and reporting for the Tessitura database.● Designed and implemented a suite of geography customizations, including an integration with a third-party vendor for geocoding addresses.● Completely re-engineered the receipting and card printing process for the Membership department. Estimated time savings: 6-8 hours per week● Built new executive daily reporting, consolidating data from three systems into a one-page overview of museum visitorship and revenue.

Working closely with colleagues from across the institution, I supported the Development office in their new implementation of the Tessitura database with custom reporting, analysis and data management tools, business process improvement, data hygiene, and understanding and improving data structures and the overall use of the Tessitura database. This is was new position in a new technological paradigm for the Met, so part of the job was defining the nature of the role.

When the New York Philharmonic merged its ticketing and fundraising databases into a single central database, I moved to the IT department where I was the primary owner and administrator of the new system.● Played a key role in the Development Office’s migration to the new Tessitura database:● Wrote about 75% of the SQL code for the data conversion. This included all financial data, and the converted data matched the source data to the penny.● Designed the NY Phil implementation of the Fund, Campaign, and Appeal data structure, and several other Tessitura features.● Performed data mapping for financial data and several other application areas.● Worked with colleagues in other departments to re-engineer numerous business processes to increase efficiency and accuracy● Built custom SSRS reports for business and financial analytics.● Designed and build database customizations and utilities for improving or automating data management and supporting business processes. This included the entire data management infrastructure for the integration with the Telefundraising vendor.● Ran the bi-weekly, interdepartmental database management group meetings. The group was designed to enhance cross-department coordination and collaboration, and serves as the forum where decisions are made about how to use shared database resources.

As part of a three-person team, I assisted in maintaining the Raiser’s Edge fundraising database. This included developing analytical reporting, data management and cleanup, business process design, gift processing, and optimizing data standards.● Designed and built many of the key analytical reports that the Development Office uses for tracking revenue, assessing program performance, and studying trends. ● Led the NY Phil effort to change our systems when our Telefundraising vendor changed from paper-based to computerized lead management, re-engineering business processes and building data management tools.● Overhauled business processes and data standards, and built automation for data management tasks, increasing efficiency and accuracy of department work.

Wrote concert reviews and essays on issues in contemporary classical music and the state of the classical music industry. Served on the organizing committee for the first Sequenza21 concert in November, 2006. Sequenza21 was the winner of a 2005 ASCAP Deems Taylor Award.

My primary responsibility was acknowledging all gifts to the Academic Medical Center and maintaining the Acknowledgement system. ● Worked with the Database Administrator to build new donor acknowledgement tools which increased automation and efficiency while enabling greater personalization of letters.● Developed tools and improved business processes for ensuring that all gifts were acknowledged accurately and promptly.● The above improvements contributed substantially to my department’s achieving the goal of processing and acknowledging all regular gifts within three days of receipt.

MusicPlayground was a Namco-funded dot-com startup working on a PC-based “Guitar Hero” precursor. I worked in the department that recorded the music and produced the game content.● Researched and distributed recordings and sheet music for a team of recording musicians.● Completely overhauled the tools and processes I inherited for managing my work, including developing a database of resources, dramatically increasing efficiency.● Tested song files and wrote descriptions of songs and instrumental parts for the game.
