Mechanical Engineer Ii
Following my work in the US I joined the Portuguese arm of the development team in the prototyping facility as the EU SME for instrument design, control, and servicing. Building on our recent successes in California, the team was able to create a working low-volume manufacturing line in Lisbon, allowing the production and testing of pipeline products without the need to interrupt primary manufacturing. As part of the move to Portugal, my role grew to include collaboration with assay, machine learning, commercial, and clinical teams to develop a whole-of-business approach to product launch. I worked closely with our external partners as well as being part of the internal Launch Core Team to ensure our readiness for product deployment; first in clinical sites, and then at commercial launch. I interfaced with distribution partners, developed training materials and work instructions, and represented Inflammatix at international conferences.
Mechanical Engineer Ii
As part of the development team at Inflammatix, I was engaged in collaborative, iterative design, testing, and development of a novel Point of Care isothermal mRNA amplification diagnostics instrument and consumable cartridge. My work in the United States was focused on cartridge testing for design iteration, design of fluidic control programs, and the development and implementation of in-house manufacturing capability.Implementing GMP and GDP, a pilot manufacturing line was implemented and subsequently graduated to a volume line with a capacity of 100+ units/day. I personally took responsibility for the development of multiple production processes including the design and qualification of fixtures and procedures.
Network And Safety Officer
Over a six-month fixed term contract, I applied communication and stakeholder management skills to implement a number of traffic projects across the Northern Sydney area. With responsibility for two of Sydney's largest local government areas, I reviewed all traffic proposals in each of these for safety and compliance. This required interfacing with members of local council, attendance at council meetings, and direct communication with members of the public.Additionally, I applied for and was granted two multi-million dollar projects under the Safer Roads program to improve safety on State roads in the communities which I was overseeing.
Product Development Engineer
Contributing to the product development of projects from Stage 2 to 4 for a large contract developer/manufacturer, I undertook responsibility for design and development activities, feasibility testing, and protocol development for a concept demonstrator prototype medical device.By applying technical expertise and stakeholder management skills, I helped to shape and deliver client engagement throughout the project. Development of engagement efforts required cross-functional planning and problem solving, and a broad understanding of all aspects of the projects.
Design & Quality Engineer
Vestech is a small medical device consultancy providing services including design & development, V&V, regulatory preparation, and the development of quality management systems for clients. As an early member of a small team, I was instrumental in the maintenance and update of Vestech's own QMS, and the development of multiple products now cleared by the FDA (US) and TGA (AU), all while helping the business to grow to more than double in size over two years.Projects included a complex electromechanical device for the objective diagnosis of concussion, SaaS application development, and research in support of Vestech's existing line of surgical products.
President
Serving as the President of the largest society of engineering students at USYD, it was my responsibility to manage a team of seven executives as we strove to deliver the best of student life to our members. Additionally, the President is the first point of contact for sponsorship acquisition.
