Galen Summer is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and founding member of the production company Public Record, where he directs award-winning commercials, films, and series. His latest series, Monster Factory, premiered on Apple TV+ in 2023 and was nominated for a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Documentary Series. His previous documentary, Sidelined—about the controversial firing of NFL cheerleaders in 1978—had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated for an IDA Award.Galen grew up in Western Massachusetts, becoming obsessed with filmmaking at an early age. He attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School and studied Film & TV at Boston University.After moving to New York and working as an editor, Galen got his start directing documentaries with his short, Lessons from a Tailor, about renowned Brooklyn suit maker and holocaust survivor, Martin Greenfield. That film led to a series of shorts for The New York City Ballet, followed by emotional brand films for Downy, Amazon, and Honey Maid, with their celebrated #ThisIsWholesome campaign. In 2015, he won an AICP Next Award for directing CVS Health's #OneGoodReason campaign.He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
