Project goal: Identify exosomal microRNAs that could be used as potential biomarkers in the early detection of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) using cell cultures/patient serum samples, exosome isolation & characterization as per ISEV guidelines.

Our research work aimed to identify the role of (small and long ) non-coding RNAs in EMCV infection with a special focus on the (host and viral) RNA transcripts that are carried via extracellular vesicles (EV) during different stages of viral infection.In addition, we investigated to identify if there are any RNA transcripts that are consistently carried.

Worked on research projects aimed to identify microRNAs that can be used as biomarkers for prion diseases like Scrapie, CJD, FFI, etc, and to identify cell-type-specific transcriptional patterns in different prion diseases.

Worked on a research project focussed on the Prader-Willi syndrome locus snoRNA/protein analysis in different mouse phenotypes, which involves generation of transgenic mice, genotyping studies, expression profiling by RNA-seq, expression evaluation/analyses by Northern hybridization and by qRT-PCR analyses

The research project focused on understanding the role of splicing factor-1 in global alternative splicing events using exon-junction arrays, transient and stable transfections in several cell lines, and mini-gene analysis. The second project is targeted to identify novel interaction partners of Splicing factor-1 using CoImmunoprecipitation (Co-IP).

Worked in an exploratory project entitled “Exploring the world of non-messenger RNAs: RNomics meets Proteomics” with Dr. Zoltán Konthur, at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin, Germany (in collaboration with Dr. Timofey Rozhdestvensky and Prof. Jürgen Brosius, at the Institute for Experimental Pathology and Molecular Neurobiology, ZMBE.

“Worked as Junior Research Fellow in research project funded by Andhra Pradesh-Netherlands Biotechnology Program titled ‘Genetic transformation of ground nut with genes for antifungal proteins/conferring stress tolerence’ with Prof P. B. Kirti, at Department of Plant Sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India.

Masters thesis work entitled "Cloning, expression and purification of RNA binding protein, NSP3, from a symptomatic Human Rota virus starin-IS2" has been carried out under the guidance of Prof C. Durga Rao, Department of Molecular Biology and Cell Biology, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, India.
