The climate is changing. The environment and biodiversity are deteriorating. These changes will be the main challenges for our societies and will have a direct impact on human health by causing new diseases, amongst others. These diseases are natural responses to an unbalanced system. Therefore, protecting our environment is protecting our health. In this context, water resources represent a particularly important ecosystem to protect as water is life. Besides providing drinking water, lakes supply other ecosystem services to humans: such as electricity, transport, fishing, tourism and recreation. Aquatic environments are home to many species and are therefore often important biodiversity sinks. A healthy ecosystem rich in biodiversity is more resilient and will be better prepared to maintain its balance in the face of internal changes, shocks and external disturbances.As such, a key measure of adaptation to climate change is the preservation of biodiversity-rich ecosystems.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I worked as a scientist/researcher from 2002 to 2017 in areas related to climate change, freshwater ecosystems, environment and sustainable development. I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the multiple interactive processes that govern these systems. In order to broaden my knowledge in management, communication, fundraising and global health, I joined in 2017 till january 2023 the international NGO Pharmacists without Borders Switzerland (PSF Switzerland) as a coordinator. PSF Switzerland is involved in development cooperation and committed to global health issues, promoting access to health for the most vulnerable, both in the South and in the North. Committed to environmental protection issues, I have also worked for 6 years within the Association Transports et Environnemental (ATE), which aims at a sustainable mobility, looking to the future and generating innovative and relevant ideas for the environment and mobility. Furthermore, I am on the committee of WWF Geneva and treasurer of Pré en bulle, a socio-cultural association.
