I was the Head of Development – Payment Systems responsible for a team of 24 staff. Apart from the line responsibilities I was the Programme Manager for a business unit called FNB Online and RMB Corporate Bank. These business units were responsible for all Corporate Payments systems as well as FNB’s Internet banking presence. I also looked after all of FNB’s Interbank Clearing transactions and processes. This included all Electronic Clearing House interfaces in RSA, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Zambia and Tanzania. It also includes interface to Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and Real Time Clearing within RSA. Within this team we are responsible for approximately 20 systems. Apart from SDLC responsibility, I had full operational responsibility for those systems which included change, problem and performance management. This technical infrastructure was constructed for use as a generic mechanism for connectivity into the FNB Hogan mainframe systems, but initially implemented in the new FirstOnline system. By using this infrastructure the FirstOnline rewrite was delivered under budget and 6 months ahead of the originally quoted date. Member of FNB’s Executive IT team that was accountable for the definition of the overall strategy of IT within the group. In particular I was made process owner for Architectural Frameworks. I led a team that defined the process of defining IT Architectures, established the scope of IT Architecture within FNB and its interrelationships with other IT processes. I was also the Technical Architect and Strategist for PC based systems. I was accountable for defining the technical architecture and strategic direction for the construction of PC solutions particularly focussing on the use of middleware, component based design and the use of messaging & queuing. Core member and team leader in the establishment of a new division formed to align Business and IT strategy. Was a key member of a team that defined a multi-channel delivery architecture. Researched and adopted the use of a messaging architecture for the development of middleware.1997 Core member and team leader in the establishment of a new division formed to align Business and IT strategy.
