(also known as Gem Aludino) New Jersey native, born and raised.I am a former film student, turned aspiring software developer. In May 2020, I graduated from Rutgers University (New Brunswick - School of Arts and Sciences),and earned my Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Computer Science.Prior to Rutgers University, I had attended Middlesex County Collegefrom September 2016 to May 2018, where I earned my Associate's Degree (A.S.) in Computer Science. It was during this time in my academic career that I had rediscovered my enthusiasm for mathematics.I decided that I would combine this enthusiasm with my passion for technology, and learn how to write software. Before my pursuits in Computer Science at Rutgers University, and Middlesex County College --I was a film student at Montclair State University, who specialized in the camera/lighting department, as well as post production (video editing). During my formative years (particularly, in high school),I was an active singer/songwriter, and played the piano, as well as the guitar. For most of my life, I was involved in the creative fields of film/video, music composition/performance, and theatre arts. I never thought that STEM, let alone software development, would become a critical part of my work life. However, software was always at the center of all of my creative endeavors -- be it video editing, or music production. Perhaps this is the universe's way of joining the threads I had spawned over the course of my life. It is my aspiration to build the software that can help a person reach their creative goals, while at the same time -- also fulfilling my own.I had recently completed a summer position with NJIT HCAD (New Jersey Institute of Technology, Hiller College of Architecture and Design), and was employed as an Assistant Researcher. Among my responsibilities were: - writing/maintaining documentation- transliterating Python code into C++ for user stories- creating repository markdown documents for the team (which defined our style guides for writing code/documentation), - writing C language bindings for the C++ backend of the codebase.I have a passion for systems programming: my favorite programming language is C++, but I also have a soft spot for C. Lately, I have also been spending my free time learning Swift -- my ultimate goal is to someday develop for both the macOS and iOS platforms.
