Responsibilities included reviewing stormwater pollution prevention plans, conducting inspections, issuing reports, and conducting outreach with permittees and related stakeholders. Audited municipalities' stormwater programs for the construction and post-construction minimum control measures (MCM). Participated in cross-program coordination with the wetlands staff at IDEM. Promoted to Senior Environmental Manager in July 2021.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

As Technical Advisor, provided technical leadership and guidance to a diverse range of project activities, both spearheaded and implemented by the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center and Network. Developed an annual work plan and oversaw the completion of deliverables on these tasks. Selected assignments include:Advised the development of sustainable value chain projects in the Central Rift Valley, Ethiopia. Specifically, I supported two eco-tourism destinations and analyzed a climate-smart horticulture value chain;Advisor for Lake Ziway conservation efforts, where HoA-REC&N led an advocacy effort to install artificial wetlands to treat the wastewater of a 500-hectare commercial flower farm on Lake Ziway;Worked with PR and Communication team as the Associate Editor for the Horn Blower, the premier environmental publication in the region. Regularly contributed articles for the website and Horn Blower;Project coordinator and developer of a $200,000 landscape resilience project that featured six multi-national partners. Helped produce a problem and solution statement for three landscapes in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti as part of the Global Resilience Partnership (Supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, and SIDA);Compiled and wrote project reports for all of HoA-REC&N’s projects. Reported to high level donors, including: USAID, the European Union, and the World Bank.

Assist the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network and their partners implement environmentally sustainable activities as a Peace Corps Response volunteer. Some activities include supporting ecotourism enterprises in the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia, improving water quality in Lake Ziway, and promoting community conservation on the urban water front of Lake Ziway.

Worked in the community of Dera, Arsi Zone, Ethiopia as part of the inaugural group of Peace Corps environment volunteers. Helped establish an ecotourism development plan for the Dera branch of Arsi Mountain National Park and promoted environmental awareness among the people in the buffer zone of the park, including Dera town, while fulfilling Peace Corps’ goal of cross-cultural integration.
