About Gamala Luitel

A young man approached me, his voice filled with desperation. "Please, tell me that surgery will save my mom," he pleaded. "We cannot afford radiation therapy." His mother was battling carcinoma of the vulva, with irregular chemotherapy due to financial constraints. Surgery was no longer an option, and radiation therapy was the only path left, but our center lacked this service. It broke my heart to see how little we could do to address their needs.This story is not unique; it is one of many I encounter frequently. It underscores the urgent need to provide comprehensive cancer care services at our center. We must establish a poor patient fund to cover the costs of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy for those who cannot afford treatment. The high cost of cancer treatment is daunting, but even more alarming is how quickly cancer can spread when patients delay treatment due to financial hardship.We aim to reach out to all patients and their families who struggle to understand the complexities of cancer care, often moving from one healthcare center to another, only to realize too late that the patient is beyond treatment. It is our mission to provide immediate, comprehensive care to prevent such tragic outcomes.
