Gamze completed her PhD in Water Engineering at Université Laval, Canada. Her research focuses on modelling and model-based optimization of nitrogen removal biological wastewater treatment processes including reactive settling, conventional and short-cut nitrogen removal processes. Professional Background: Gamze is a passionate environmental engineer specialized in water and wastewater management, and looking forward to opportunities to lead, learn and make a difference in the water sector. She started her professional career in io Environmental Solutions Research and Development Co. at 2011. She worked as senior project engineer in this company that has specialized in the “design of water and wastewater treatment plants”, “energy optimization and rehabilitation of existing Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs)” and “watershed management”. She has 10 years’ experience in design projects and process engineering with academicians and specialists.Accomplishments, Committees, and Contributions: She is an active IWA member who contributed organization of several international IWA conferences including WRRmod and ICA seminar series. She worked in different positions at IWA Young Water Professionals (YWP) Canada and currently she is the co-chair of the committee. She is involved in Modelling and Integrated Assessment (MIA) Specialist Group of IWA as a management committee member. She is also a YWP board member at the Canadian Association on Water Quality - CAWQ. Gamze is actively working to support and empower the professional development of early career water professionals and delivering opportunities for them.Research Areas: Gamze has been working on design and modelling of WRRFs, model-based energy and resource optimization and application of short-cut nitrogen removal processes. Her work involves the control and operation of WRRFs, mathematical modelling and process optimization.
