I did my internship for MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Corporation) . I did a feasibility study on adopting Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system of transport for EDSA, a major highway in the Philippines. My internship consist of in-depth external environmental analysis through PESTLE, Stake holder analysis, internal analysis of the company followed by strategy formulation and strategy implementation.The risks associated with the project were identified and risk mitigation plans for the identified risks were suggested. The project also contains marketing strategies for convincing the various stakeholders who will be associated with the project and whose support is needed for implementing the project. Branding and pricing the bus rapid Transit was also included in the project. As the government organization was fund stricken, I used Public Private Partnership model for financing the project. The project is highly cost intensive as it has investments in the form of new bus stops, pedestrian bridges, new buses, IT infrastructure, etc. My project also includes extensive financials which covers capital budgeting for the project along with public benefits with public costs.My project also takes into consideration the operational aspect of the bus transport system. As a result of my project there is a decrease in the turnaround time, increase in the load factor, increase in the utilization of buses, increase in the average speed, increase in number of round trips, decrease in the number of buses, accurate forecast of demand etc, thereby reducing costs and also the traffic congestion.
