Co-Founded the company and led the technology organization in charge of the R&D and engineering of a new medical device for the ophthalmic market. ∎ Contributed to the strategic/tactical development of the company and in raising millions in equity funding from VC, strategic and angel investors.∎ Reported directly to the CEO and the Board of Directors. Presented monthly to the board of directors on product development, timelines, budgets, and organization development.∎ Created, managed, and retained an effective multilayered organization composed of multigenerational (Gen Zs to boomers) mechanical, electrical, optical, and industrial engineers; software developers and web designers; project and product managers; clinical and regulatory personnel that was able to effectively reduce the device expected manufacturing cost by over 300%.∎ Successfully managed all the external technology related business relationships (contracts & negotiations) with part suppliers, vendors, contractors, strategic partners, and contract manufacturers reducing costs and keeping the product development timeline. ∎ Directly took part in the design and development of several HIPPA compliant, cloud based, full stack, Javascript-HTML-CSS-ASP.NET (C#/Web Services/WebRTC) applications.

Managed the Technology Development and the IT department. Major accomplishments include:∎ Successfully completed the development of a medical diagnostic device to clinical and commercial deployment with 30k plus patients tested and 8k plus patients treated using the diagnosis provided by the device. ∎ Established a virtual multinational R&D/engineering department, with basic science done in Spain and Boston (under research contracts/grants), hardware development in California, New York, and Atlanta (employees), regulatory relations in Boston (under contract), and software development done in New York and Atlanta (employees). ∎ Negotiated and executed research contracts with Fortune 100 companies for the use of this technology in future products (soft contact lenses). ∎ Additionally, oversaw the technical submission to the FDA (IDE) for a new laser system to do refractive surgery.

The company was sold to a public company in 2000.∎ Using best-in-class platforms, hardware, and tools, directed the company’s technology from conceptual to operational stage ahead of schedule. ∎ Transformed the technology from an in-house prototype system to a national POP infrastructure with redundant, secured and replicated services covering more than 25 US markets. ∎ Assembled from the ground up the technology team consisting of six departments with multimillion annual budget. CSA provides engineering information technology services for large international industrial projects like nuclear power plants and computer chip manufacturing plants. ∎ Managed and scaled the organization in charge of developing engineering applications (UNIX/Windows NT), Oracle based applications (Developer2000/Visual Basic), web applications (Java, DHTML, ASP, and VB), customized development for clients, corporate IT, hardware and software purchases, training, documentation, technical support, and marketing/sales technical support. ∎ The department included developers and support staff distributed in three offices around the world. From 1995 to 1999, the department generated $4 millions in software license sales and $5.4 millions in customized development.∎ Managed, during 1997-1999, a two years 40K+ person-hours software development project for an international client in South Korea. For this effort, managed the proposal development, contract negotiations, specifications development, project scheduling, development, testing, and delivery.

Worked in the design and development of a Raceway and Cable Management system for nuclear power plants. ∎ Developed the functional requirements, modeled the logical design using Oracle’s CASE tools, developed the physical design, designed, and created the general architecture of the application.
