My qualifications highlight my enjoyment of company direction, with a particular interest in technology and finance. My experience comes from 30 years at board level as a Technical Director in microelectronics design, a year restoring stability as an interim Managing Director, and several years as a Company Chairman in the heavy engineering sector. SMEs are my home ground. I enjoy technical and managerial challenges. I enjoy supporting and mentoring high-level management and mixing with shop floor operators. I enjoy diving into company data and finding the useful KPIs that are buried there. In support of KPIs, Lord Kelvin said “When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind: it may be the beginning of knowledge, but you have scarcely, in your thoughts, advanced to the stage of science, whatever the matter may be.”True. But my guiding light is the management guru, Einstein, who is misattributed with saying “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts”.
