I am a College Admissions and Independent School Admissions Consultant, working with students and their families to help ensure that they are maximizing their strengths and improving their chances of successful admission to the right colleges and private schools for them, including many of the most highly selective schools. To assure an exceptional quality of support and attention not available from most other counseling services, I work with no more than 10 client students and their families per year.In the forty years that I have served as a both a private school head and a public school superintendent, I have successfully counseled hundreds of students and their families in their search for the best college or independent school match. While many of the students I have advised have gained admittance to some of the most competitive colleges and independent schools, I’m particularly proud of the fact that almost all of the students I have worked with have found a school that is a perfect fit for them.I bring a broad range of experience from having worked with, and advised, very diverse groups of students. My independent school experience includes The Dalton School, where I was Headmaster; Avenues: the World School, where I was the first Head of the Upper Division, then Academic Dean & Senior Advisor; and The School at Columbia University, where I was a co-founder and Head of School. My public school experience includes Senior Advisor at Success Academy Charter Schools, the largest and highest-performing free, public charter school network in New York City, as well as previous positions as the Superintendent of Schools in Briarcliff Manor, NY, and Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Shaker Heights, OH. I am currently a member of the boards of The GO Project and the Black Rock Forest Consortium and, over the years, have served on the boards of 9 schools and educational organizations.
