As part of a large organisation, I work to support young people aged 11 to 18 years old and manage a team of individuals.Responsibilities~Within this role I am responsible for supporting and managing a staff team to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people. I undertake direct work with children and young people i.e. attending court hearings, YOT appointment, medical appointments, facilitating family contact, mediation etc. Also, I am responsible for ensuring our group of care workers are aware of what they should be doing, carrying out staff supervisions, and disciplinary if necessary, and taking responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running when on duty. Other tasks include ensuring the financial expenditure is monitored on a weekly basis.Recruitment and Assessments~I also participate in assessment days for potential new employees. This included a day of group and individual activities. The candidates, who are successful in these tasks, are then invited to attend a formal interview where they will find out on the day if they are successful or not.Multi –disciplinary working ~Our multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, care staff, education teams and external agencies work with the young person and help them identify their working strategy to achieving independence and positive reintegration in the community.
