Senior Project Manager within STFC’s Digital Infrastructure department (DI) which provides the infrastructure & enterprise services that underpin STFC’s programme activities. The DI Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is located across the STFC’s two primary sites (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Daresbury Laboratory) and manages the delivery of the DI project portfolio. The projects in the portfolio span a wide range of disciplines including IT Security, Networks, Applications, Telephony, Cloud, Infrastructure, Data Management and High Performance Computing.These range in size from small (tactical) projects lasting 3-6 months to larger/complex (STFC wide impact) multi-year programmes. All projects/programmes involve introducing changes to IT processes and/or technologies across STFC.I am expected to manage 3-5 projects concurrently. Due to both the technical and cross department nature of these projects I am responsible for managing multi-discipline project teams including members of DI, other STFC IT Teams and in some cases 3rd party contractors/suppliers. They will also include staff at all levels, i.e. both junior and more senior to the role.I am responsible for managing all aspects of the project from start-up/initiation through to project closure. This requires the ability to apply and tailor project management methodology appropriately to the projects and programmes within the portfolio. My role contributes to and influences decision making both within DI and to stakeholders across STFC. The role plays a key role in project governance and is required to attend the DI Portfolio (DI Senior Management) and Portfolio Project Board (STFC Stakeholders) as well as communicate regularly with Project Sponsors and senior stakeholders.The main activities of my role include:• Initiation and Planning• Resource Management• Stakeholder Engagement \ Management• Transition• Change Management• Project Communications• Reporting• Risk \ Issue Management
