Lead design engineer for the mid-tunnel adit, a roadheader access tunnel and the mid-tunnel ventilation shaft and chamber, a 12m dia., 28m deep excavation connected to a roadheader excavated chamber (10m x 80m x 17m high).I also worked in the role of design project manager for the West and East tunnel portals and Gore Hill Freeway cut and cover and portal access structures. Leeds, United Kingdom/ Hong Kong
Based in Hong Kong I worked on the Chep Lap Kok Airport project. My role included managing the geotechnical investigation and design engineer for high capacity tension rock anchors beneath the central spine structure, below sea level. I also worked on the airport express rail line termination, where I planned the methodology to successfully induce rapid settlement of deep fill to ensure stringent settlement tolerances were met. While in the UK I worked on a range of projects. A highlight was working on the Warrington Royal Mail Rail hub where I was responsible for the design of earthworks and a subsurface contaminant barrier. I progressed to Principal’s Representative based on site for the earthworks and construction of an 800m perimeter slurry trench containment wall. The site was a heavily contaminated former gasworks site. Both the design and ground works contracts were successfully completed.
