Doctoral graduate with interdisciplinary education in Fine Arts, film studies, art history and communication, and history, looking to contribute to the institutional support of arts and culture in Canada. I have balanced a passionate curiosity about arts, history, and culture (including popular culture and cultural institutions) with a commitment to research and education and interest in arts and heritage institutions from GLAMs to historic markers. I have taught courses on film studies and film history at Concordia University, and have extensive experience within educational institutions, as well as event planning, media production (film, podcast, illustration). My doctoral research involved locating popular cultural artifacts based on actual crimes that took place in the American South in the middle-1950s within their historical and institutional contexts. One case study examines the circumstances that informed the 1955 exposé The Phenix City Story, exploring the intersection of political corruption, violence and twentieth century southern racial oppression in the wide-open town on the Alabama-Georgia border. Another case study, currently under revision for publication, traces the history of an unproduced screenplay about the murder of Emmett Till, the Chicago teenager murdered in Mississippi in 1956. As part of my research, I travelled throughout the region, visited local commemorative regimes and unearthed previously unexplored material.
