I am responsible for the day to day maintenance of our multi-region Amazon Web Services environments, as well as the architectural design and implementation of all services within these environments. A large part of this work is ensuring the systems are architected with data security and cost optimisation in mind, whilst ensuring maximum up-time and incident response.Since we adopted G-Suite back in 2014, I have been involved in the management and security of our Google G-Suite domain. This includes:> the selection, maintenance and security of third-party applications and integrations> the implementation of technical controls, such as password policies, in line with business policiesmanaging an estate of over 2000 ChromeOS devices, designing and implementing device control policies ranging from standard desktop user to kiosk devices used by candidates> threat and incident management> the creation of Google Apps Script projects to improve the functionality of the G-Suite products, driving business efficiency through internal automation and optimisationI currently support the developers building the business’s rapidly growing application portfolio, this generally entails providing architectural support, such as suggesting AWS services, APIs etc. that both meet their requirements but that also scale efficiently whilst remaining cost-minimal. This can also often involve providing break-fix support, drawing on my knowledge across all our internal IT disciplines.As the key technical resource for our IT GDPR compliance project, I’m responsible for the rapid remediation of any data breaches and near-misses. Furthermore, I assess the security of current systems, to ensure their compliance with regulatory principals - suggesting enhancements or actions where systems are not secure.We frequently receive Data Subject Access Requests into the organisations. One of my responsibilities is to extract, convert and return this information to our data protection team.
