The role involved working within the Local Government division of Capita, providing Network TDA and Senior Engineering resource to Sheffield City Council (SCC) Partnership. I lead on a large-scale network refresh project designed to replace networking hardware across over 200 SCC sites with a budget of over £1m spanning 18+ months of delivery work. I also provided technical consultancy for the assessment and design of technical solutions. -

Provide ICT services to council and other public sector organisations, including Education, Health, and Police. We also maintain long standing contracts providing a multitude of services (network, internet, filtering, security, shared services). The role involves client contact to specify, design, plan and implement solutions to customer requirements. Design authority for networks and security in an ITIL environment for solutions that are compliant with UK Government PSN Code of Connection (CoCo) standards. I maintain excellent working relationship with Telco Providers (BT/Virgin Media) and other support partners. Overall responsibility for all customer network solutions ensuring that all operational targets and customer SLA's are adhered to. High level support of the live network environment, consisting of a large multi-site,(4000+ User) Cisco WAN/LAN network, running full 802.1x port based authentication. A core (dual/multi-site) datacentre infrastructure of Cisco Nexus 7k/5k/2k in multi-context (VDC) / multi-router (VRF) environment. Support and maintenance of a large range of Cisco IOS devices at layer 2 and layer 3. VPN, Cisco ASA and Checkpoint Firewalls. -

Voip Design/Implementation EngineerRbt (Connect) Ltd / Bt Global Services Sep 2008 - Feb 2011As part of the RBT joint venture between BT Global services and Rotherham Council, significant investment was made in infrastructure and in technology shift. I led the implementation of a new Nortel CS1000 VoIP and contact centre platform across 4000+ users. This involved the migration from a Siemens iSDX whilst continuing to maintain services for 24/7 access. This was a great learning opportunity as it gave exposure to Unified communications, security, QoS and real time protocols and Contact Centre.
