Promoted in September 2018 to a national role, integral to the Senior Central Operations Team.Horizon scanning and analysis to provide guidance on emerging transport policies/projects, supporting the Group Operations Director and individual Centre Directors/General Managers in strategic planning and centre operations.Close collaboration with the Communications & Sustainability Director and central CSR team, leading the transport analysis, monitoring and reporting for annual CSR reports, formulation of group-wide transport positions/policies and compilation of numerous consultation responses to ensure the needs and views of our centres were fairly represented.Close liaison on external Local Authority infrastructure schemes, preparing letters of support for major funding bids, leading to securing grant funding for internal travel/transport developments at various centres - the combined total of which reached c.£1 million - and left a legacy network of contacts which continues to be utilised at the ex-intu locations.Continued co-ordination of EV Steering Group, implementing the corporate strategy and agreeing on infrastructure targets before securing external funding to support installation of additional EV charging points. Increased the overall charging provision to 140 EV charging bays across the portfolio by the end of 2019, with other installations underway in 2020.Supported the National CX Project Manager to develop a question set within the digital customer survey platform, helping centres to better monitor customers’ modal choices and analysing data to help the business gain in-depth understanding of the spending power per mode of transport.Successfully led recruitment process for the Sustainable Travel Co-ordinator at intu Lakeside, advising on suitable transport agencies and job sites for advertising the post, before sifting the applicants, conducting the interviews and recommending the final candidate.

Responsible for travel and transport matters at seven intu centres across the North and Midlands (intu Metrocentre, Braehead, Eldon Square, Broadmarsh, Derby, Victoria Centre and Potteries) as well as providing strategic support for the Travel Co-ordinator at intu Trafford Centre.Worked closely with individual centre management teams to support the local operations and promote sustainable travel initiatives at their respective centres.Delivered improvements and enhancements to the transport infrastructure, including identification of strategic funding sources, building partnerships with key stakeholders at local, regional and national levels.Researched ongoing developments in the EV markets to inform the formulation of corporate EV strategy to support the rapid growth in this sector.Management of the LSTF 2015/16 programme within intu Metrocentre, continuing the successful engagement from previous years.

Undertaking travel planning and support for individuals working for, or within, intu Metrocentre as part of the Tyne & Wear Local Sustainable Transport Fund programme. Successfully engaged with over 75% of the workforce population throughout the course of the year, including all major space users.Worked alongside other members of the senior management team on a series of transport-related improvements for intu Metrocentre, ultimately to promote greater public transport use.

This role at TORG was highly varied; whilst with the group I became involved with a range of different projects, funded from UK and EU sources.On the research front, responsible for the co-ordination of a three-year, 10 partner, c.€3M, EU FP7 project called SAVE ME, investigating the potential of intelligent systems for the efficient evacuation of transport infrastructures in emergency situations.Project manager and/or lead researcher for a number of smaller-scale projects within the group, covering a diverse range of topics such as smartcards, accessibility issues, transferability of innovative solutions, and a review of patient transport services.In addition to the research aspects, given responsibility for teaching activities on the MSc courses, leading a core module on Public Transport (from 2010-2013), planning, compiling and giving lectures, setting and marking both coursework and the exam papers. In 2013/14, became co-leader on a new MSc module concerning transport planning and sustainability. Was project supervisor for numerous MSc students, each undertaking a study focussing on an aspect of the Public Transport domain.Away from Newcastle, was an invited guest lecturer at the University of Glasgow, delivering a series of lectures on Geospatial Public Transport Information to MSc students. The content of the module was developed from material originally provided by Dr Alastair Morrison (one of my PhD supervisors) with additional material derived from my own PhD studies. Aside from the research and teaching activities, heavily involved in the marketing and advertising of the group's activities. This included the direct responsibility for the development of a group website, online and e-mail promotion of both the weekly lunchtime seminar series and ad-hoc events to a wider external audience.

This was a part-time role undertaken in parallel with reading for my PhD at the University of Glasgow, helping develop my skills in consultancy, data analysis, time management and professional networking.The role primarily involved working with data and GIS for accessibility analysis, transport planning and scheme evaluation on a diverse range of transport projects for Scottish Government, Regional/Local Transport Authorities and Local Residents' Groups.
