One of the main challenges of working in Information Technology is the ability listen, understand, and then convey meaning in increasingly complex environments. Over 25 years I have worked in a number of countries with a huge variety of technology in large scale projects for multi-nationals and government organisations through to turnkey software solutions for small businesses with a handful of employees. This variety demanded a wide ranging skillset, and so beyond the obligatory technical skills, I have increased my competencies in managing stakeholders and projects, defining and communicating business requirements and providing leadership. I continue to promote key activities to increase awareness and effectiveness: knowledge sharing, the use of best practices/standards, and considerations of data use e.g. quality, privacy and security.Throughout my career I have focused on a number of domains:- Enterprise Resource Planning systems (e.g. Oracle E-Business Suite / Oracle Applications)- Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing- Data Engineering, Management and Database SystemsThrough working on these domains my knowledge and understanding of business has evolved to a wide extent, and I continue to look for opportunities to assist and improve!
