I worked on new product development of centrifugal pumps - end suction, split case, vertical turbine.Designing hydraulic components - impellers, and volutes/diffusers as per design requirement either for efficiency or performance using CFturbo as primary design tool for hydraulic calculations along with in house developed spreadsheets. Hydraulic passage, blade design and profiles carried out using various methods like Excel, Mathcad, Creo, etc. Running CFD simulations to validate the designs using Ansys CFX, Creo Flow Analysis to verify performance curve.Other tasks included supporting mechanical design activities – shaft calculation, bearing selection and life calculation & hydraulic CAD design (surfacing) performing competitor benchmarking, black box analysis, and pump performance curve comparisons.Also Experimented with DOE, & optimization processes to reduce the overall design time for hydraulic components.

As a Design Engineer my primary tasks were to work on new product development of engineering speciality product line for Xylem's Bell & Gossett brand - which included air separators, HVAC circuit setter balance valves, suction diffusers, etc.I worked on developing design for manufacturing CAD models, creating, and managing 2D drawings, BOMs. Also support the product launch - rendering marketing images using Keyshot Pro.Meanwhile, I also experimented with hydraulic development of pumps - impeller and volutes. Automated the generation of impellers blade vane coordinates and thickness profile using Excel & VBA.

Butterfly Valve Tool Design• Developed a tool using Advanced MS Excel & VBA which determines the optimum valve disc’s opening angle, allowing PipeDiver to successfully pass BFV installed in pipeline.• Tool works on mathematical and geometrical calculations.• Managed the conversion of excel based tool to a web based version in the second phase of development of the project.
