Garo Keheyan, was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford where he read English Language and Literature. He received post graduate degrees in International Relations and Business Administration from the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States respectively.During his business career Garo Keheyan has been involved in property development, banking and consulting.In 1998 Garo Keheyan founded the Pharos Arts Foundation, a non-profit cultural and educational foundation based in Cyprus. The Foundation has become one of the leading cultural institutions in Cyprus and is recognized for the excellence of its programmes. Over the past fourteen years it has organized hundreds of events with some of the finest musicians in the world. In 2005 Garo Keheyan established the Pharos Centre for Contemporary Art. It has exhibited the work of major international artists and published monographs on the artist’s works. The Foundation has undertaken projects in Brazil, UK, the Czech Republic, Russia, Armenia and Jordan.Garo Keheyan is the Honorary Consul of Brazil in Cyprus and has been instrumental in strengthening bi-lateral relations between the two countries over the past 30 years. Garo Keheyan founded the English Speaking Union in Cyprus in 2009 and since then Cypriots have participated in the ESU’s international programmes. In 2011 Garo Keheyan was awarded the Chevalier des Arts et de Lettres by the French Government for his services to culture.
