My job here involves all aspects of machine repair, mostly dealing with large steel processing plants. I do both on site and in shop work. At the shop my tasks include the following:- Working with machine operators to examine and understand: - Whats wrong? - How can this be fixed? - What can be done to keep production going in the meantime? - What can be done with the machining or design of the new part to prevent failure in the future?- Taking dimensions on parts, using micrometers ranging from 0"-1" all the way to 11"-12"- Creating SolidWorks drawings of the parts with the found dimensions.- Selecting the proper material for the part- Finding the most efficient way to create a part when multiple machining, and fabrication process are to be used.-MIG/Stick welding-Holding tolerances of .001" on both a lathe and mill. -Holding tolerances of .0003 on a grinder.-Operating up to 12,000 lb forklifts in both a small shop and factory settings. -Operating up to 40 ton cranes in a factory setting. -Use of both Oxy-Acetylene torch and plasma cutters in shop and on site.- Adapting to unexpected obstacles during repair, while under time constrictions.- Developing a working relationship with plant maintenance crews, managers and engineers to fix the problem properly the first time, and prevent it from happening the next.-Finding and working with the machine manufactures for to better understand how the machine works.

Worked as a laborer in restoring both private and commercial fire and water damage.

Started as a carry-out, advanced to outdoor lawn and gardening manager, than to managing any of Elliot’s ten departments from house wares to the tools department.
