Hello, my name is Garrett Bender and I was born in Altoona, PA. Came up north here to New York shortly after. I went to private school up until 9th grade where I had attended Lancaster High School. During high school I had immediately started to work for an autobody shop learning the tools and tricks of the trade. I had worked there consistently for 10 years until I recently was hired by New Enterprise Stone and Lime where I operate heavy equipment daily and repair the blacktop plant during down-time. The objectives that need to be done at my current job includes doing much physical labor such as twisting and turning with heavy loads, fitting into cramped spaces to weld for an unknown amount of time. I am a very dependable employee who does not call in and shows up on time every day. Many tasks require some form of vocational training such as pipefitting and welding. Stick welding is my forte but I can also use a MiG welder if necessary. I excel at fabricating metal and have the technical skills of understanding and following drawing plans. I am currently enrolled in school full time at Erie community college to earn an Information Technology degree. I will obtain the degree by the end of 2021. After I have graduated, I will have a certification in A+. Going back to school has given me the confidence and ability to perform well in a job in technology.
