Hey there! My name is Garrett Bimler, and I’m a graduate from the Colorado School of Mines, with a major in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering and a curiosity for 3D printing.I'm a Colorado native who, as does every other Coloradan, loves hiking, biking, and skiing (snowboarding, actually)! I've always been drawn to the outdoors, whether it's winter camping in the middle of December with my roommate, or longboarding down mountain roads in the spring time with my friends. I'm drawn to excitement and creativity. In my free time, I like to edit videos into short movies, go to the gym to dance & stretch, and explore new places. Often in the spring and summer, I like to research fun destinations within driving distance, then get some buddies to go adventure them; some cool places I've traveled to are Guffey Gorge, Two Buttes Reservoir, and a swimming hole called, "Devil's Punchbowl." Another hobby of mine is photography, which has proved to be more difficult than I first imagined, but it also has been a wonderful experience learning how to dial-in the perfect shot. Throughout my life, I've always been curious as to what's happening, "behind the curtains." Not about any one thing in particular but... everything! I would personify everything I interacted with: "I wonder how that broom feels...?" "I wonder if that building is happy...?"It was this type of intrinsic curiosity that drove me to the Colorado School of Mines. I wanted to know the how's, what's, why's, and when's about life, and now it's tangible! While at Mines, I was introduced to the additive manufacturing industry, and since then I knew this is where I belong. The innovative technology fascinates me, just like finding bugs underneath some bricks as a kid. I want to see and know more, which is the why I aspire to be involved in this field. I am currently looking for position within the Additive Manufacturing industry, preferably dealing with metal AM.
