I co-founded a nature-connection education program in Boulder. The focus of the organization is to offer education that works with the entire child. We designed our programs to create experiences in nature that help the children and parents see their relationship to the larger eco-system. The Kiva Center is a 501c3 non-profit. Our programs address three main areas: homeschool enrichment, school-wide environmental campaigns/classroom workshops, and family workshops.I am the director of operations and lead mentor for our programming.

Starting the summer after graduating from Soka University of America I was accepted to be a summer program teacher. After completing the summer program, my boss asked me to stay with Bixby through the school year. I began teaching in the Preschool, Kindergarten, and substituting throughout the school. I also provided administrative assistance. Several weeks before the end of the 2011-12 school year my boss offered me the position of summer program coordinator. I accepted and have been running the summer program. This position has included, but is not limited to: organizing the programming, scheduling staff, accounting, curriculum development, mentoring summer program teachers, and child-behavior intervention.After several really positive summer programs that generated great excitement in the students and increased enrollment, Bixby asked me to teach my own classes. I have taught 4th/5th grade History and 1st grade Geography and group time. My passion is designing curriculum that is relevant to my students lives. This requires truly understanding my students and their lives and finding creative ways to make the skills I want them to learn more exciting for them because they are aware of how they help each of them better understand their worlds.
