CurrentOur Port Engineers support the ship’s maintenance team (MT), recommend maintenance and repair determinations, validate reported deficiencies, assist in prioritizing maintenance and repairs based on schedule and operational requirements. Port Engineers also recommend the most efficient and economical levels of maintenance based on cost, quality, timeliness and budgetary constraints in accordance with the Surface Type Commander (TYCOM) and Commander, Fleet Forces Command (COMFLTFORCOM) Instruction 4790.3, “Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual” (JFMM). Port Engineers provide real time support of the Navy ship maintenance/repair and modernization, emergent work requirements with short deadlines and long term maintenance planning and budgeting. Port Engineers provide key technical support to the ship’s maintenance team which includes the ship’s commanding officer, key members of the Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC’s) and applicable industrial, public and private shipyards.
