As an attorney, I practice in areas where I can leverage my strengths: oral advocacy, persuasive writing, and creative thinking. Naturally, that has led me to litigation, negotiations, and teaching. My litigation practice focuses on labor and employment, special education/student discipline, and insurance/risk pool defense. I primarily represent public school districts and other large employers. And that means I practice in a wide variety of venues, including state and federal courts, administrative hearings, statutory hearings, and labor arbitration. But it has also led to work as a pre-litigation, neutral workplace investigator.My negotiation practice focuses on collective bargaining between unions and employers. In that area, I advise clients on grievances and labor disputes, act as lead negotiator at the table, and research labor trends to provide proactive advice.My teaching practice is where I get to share these experiences with other attorneys and industry professionals. I am a frequent presenter at CLE seminars, HR seminars, Special Education seminars, and Labor conferences. This is some of the most rewarding work I do because I get to help people build the skills they need to avoid or minimize legal issues.Outside of law, family reigns supreme. I'm married and have two children, a son and daughter. And with boundless energy, you can usually find us traveling, camping and hiking, riding dirt bikes and adventure motorcycles, or running marathons (including the Boston Marathon).
