A firefighter since 1990, Garrett started his career in the fire service with Brevard County Fire Rescue. In 2004 he began his employment with the City of Orlando Fire Department following the dream of working in the city. Garrett is currently assigned to Engine #8 and previously Tower #1 in Downtown Orlando, a State of Florida Paramedic, a member of the Dive Rescue Team, High Angle Rescue Team, Technical Rescue Team and a Haz-Mat Team member.

St. Baldrick's Foundation is the largest volunteer driven funding effort for childhood cancer research in the world. Since 2005 the St. Baldrick's Foundation has funded over $200,000,000 in Pediatric Cancer Research. Only the Federal Government has spent more on Childhood Cancer Research. Since 2010, Volunteering, Organizing and Coordination of events for the St. Baldrick's Foundation on the Space Coast of Florida has been a passion for Garrett. For the past 7 years, events have consistently been some of the top St. Baldrick's events in the country under Garrett's leadership St. Baldrick's Space Coast has shaved over 2,500 heads and raised just over $1,665,000 to date, from $73,421 in the very first year to over $250,000 in each of the past 5 years. Since 2013, the St. Baldrick's Shave at The Avenue Viera has been #10 or higher out of over 1,300 held throughout the world. In 2014, only the 4th year, St. Baldrick's Brevard was able to raise over $319,000 for critical Pediatric Cancer Research Grants and rise to the 9th highest grossing event in the world. With 2015's totals and Garrett's leadership, they became the #6 Highest Grossing event in the world and over $1.622 Million Dollars that has been raised on the Space Coast for Childhood Cancer Research in just 6 years. 2013 welcomed "Bow Ties & Blue Jeans" at the Suntree Country Club in February, a Golf Tournament with World of Beer at Duran Golf Club, and "Pack the Park for St. Baldrick's" in conjunction with the MiLB Brevard County Manatees.Under Garrett's leadership and in only second year in Brevard County, Space Coast Living Magazine recognized their efforts as the Readers Choice Favorite Charity and again in 2015. In 2013 Garrett was nominated for the prestigious Florida Today Volunteer of the Year at the annual Volunteer Recognition Awards. All of these awards were very much appreciated as there are many worthy causes and citizens doing outstanding work in our community of over 550,000 residents.

Obtained a new franchise from the Dairy Queen Corporation becoming one of the youngest owners of a Dairy Queen store in the State of Florida. Obtained certification through "DQU" (Dairy Queen University), Assisted in Design of store, Managed build out/remodel of space and acquisition of equipment, ran successful opening, established a campaign for Marketing/Advertising, book-keeping, inventory, ordering, hiring, personnel and running the day to day operations of the franchise. After 4 years of Owning/Managing and running day to day operations was successfully bought out of partnership.
