Chief Nuclear Strategist for Air Force Global Strike Command, Futures Division, A5P. Imbedded within the Institute of National Security Studies at the US Air Force Academy. Duties include current and future capabilities gap analysis and technology maturation to fill Global Strike Command requirements and priorities. Focus on nuclear platforms, weapons, capabilities and policy as they pertain to Global Strike equities and the warfighter. Blending and sourcing solutions between industry, national laboratories and academia to ensure Strikers have the tools and bandwidth to execute deterrence and operational missions in support of USSTRATCOM OPLANs.

The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) was established at the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1992 to advance research and education on strategic policy issues. Its core mission is to promote a better understanding of the nuclear aspects of competition and conflict in the 21st century, although INSS has historically sponsored work on a broad range of national security and WMD-related topics. It aims to prepare current and future US leaders to meet the evolving requirements for strategic stability and deterrence through independent and innovative scholarship, instruction, and outreach. INSS designs, leads, and delivers leading-edge, policy-relevant research and organizes workshops, strategic dialogues, and table-top exercises in support of Department of Defense sponsors. It is a core partner of the Academy’s Nuclear Weapons and Strategy Minor program and supports their broader education and leadership development goals.

Served as a Fellow at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, visiting facilities across the nuclear enterprise, development laboratories, nuclear weapon storage facilities, academia, defense contractors, nuclear physicists, engineers, and weapons designers. Took part in multiple deep dives in the nuclear stockpile stewardship program, intelligence assessments, laser-based fusion technology, basic and applied research, and nuclear surety/policy issues, and collaborated with industry experts on the relationships between the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration in support and sustainment of the nation’s nuclear weapons.

Executive Assistant for the Deputy Director for Nuclear and Homeland Defense Operations (J-36)Executes duties as CJCS focal point on Joint matters pertaining to Nuclear and Homeland Defense Operations by leading a team directly supporting the Deputy Director. Oversees staffing, personal matters, and correspondence for 6 general/flag officers, 5 divisions, and a140 member staff. Manages congressional prep, schedules, communications and travel, tech support for 8 senior Joint officers. Interacts daily across the Joint and Interagency with senior military and civilian officials and acts as a conduit for information pertaining to national security on all matters concerning nuclear and conventional homeland defense operations.

Presidential Nuclear Strike Advisor, uses Presidential intent to nominate strike options and transmit orders to nuclear forces. Leads a joint and interagency team during crisis action provides and advises on National Military Command Structure, global operations for the CJCS. Principle advisor on current military operations and geo political situations to the J3 Deputy Director for Operations.

Operations Officer in J36 Directorate for CJCS National Military Command Center. Develops initial analysis of world events and recommends courses of action to the Deputy Director of Operations during deliberations with CJCS and SECDEF.

Executive Officer for the Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Applications in Defense Programs NA-10, National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy. Provides direct executive support for administration of the U.S. nuclear-weapon program. Works directly with senior officers and their staffs at Office of Secretary Defense, the Joint Staff, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Air Force, and the Navy.Supports the PADAMA in the execution of their duties as the Vice Chairman of the Nuclear Weapons Council Standing and Safety Committee (NWCSSC) in preparing joint nuclear weapons policy and program guidance for the two Departments and as Chairman of the Nuclear Weapons Requirements Working Group (NWRWG) in preparing DOD requirements and reviewing DOE programs to ensure they meet DOD requirements. Manages Defense Programs front office and provides ongoing critical staff support. Reviews and ensures proper control over large volume of executive correspondence; screens, prioritizes, responds, and directs. Oversees executive calendars; arranges senior-level meetings and briefings for Assistant Secretary level discussion. Manages and ensures proper control of classified information, including over 5,000 pages of joint nuclear weapons program data. Plans itineraries, coordinates trip details, and accompanies the PADAMA on travel. Performs administrative liaison between the Office of the Secretary of Defense/services and active-duty military officers from the three service branches assigned to DOE as well as senior executive and Congressional staff.

Flight Commander of Student Development for the 381 Training Support Squadron. Tasked with developing and operating the 381 Training Group Professional Development programs and managing all 200+ annual Casual and Transition Lieutenants awaiting ICBM initial skills training. Additionally, maintains certifications as an AETC Instructor Supervisor and teaches all required Faculty Development courses to over 200 Training Group permanent party members, supporting over 400 initial skills students on an annual basis.

Serves as an Assistant Flight Commander for the 381st TRSS Faculty Development section. In charge of curriculum development and implementation coming out of Vandenberg AFB and acts as an AETC instructor for Faculty Development courses. Assists Flight Chief in critical personnel and course decisions and acts as a military advisor.

In charge of initial qualification training for students enroute to their operational missile bases. Educates students on initial skills and administers progress checks and block tests in a classroom setting.

Administers daily training in the form of scenario simulator instruction to crews of two initial qualification training students enroute to their respective operational missile bases.

Assists the Director of Operations on manpower and manning decisions and acts as a mentor for squadron Flight Commanders. Runs the administrative tasks associated with the Personnel Reliability Program.

Commands flight of 31 missile combat crew officers, facility managers and chefs; advises squadron commander in unit crew force readiness. While on ACP alert, directs 15 missile crews, monitors 150 ICBMs and oversees $3.3B in weapon system assets. Accountable to the President, SECDEF, and CDRUSSTRATCOM for launch actions of 50 ICBMs upon direction. Responsible for the upkeep of five alert facilities; maintains quality of life of 10 ops, security and support personnel.

Select instructor; conducts launch control center, missile procedures trainer and classroom training. Supervises 9 instructors developing training materials used to train 245 combat ready and staff officers. Accountable to the President, SECDEF, and CDRUSSTRATCOM for launch actions of 50 ICBMs upon direction. While on ACP alert, directs 15 missile crews, monitors 150 ICBMs and oversees $3.3B in weapon system assets.

Assists the flight commander in leading 16 missile combat crew officers, facility managers and chefs; unit readiness advisor. When ordered, initiates retargeting actions and prompt global strike operations, utilizing up to 50 nuclear missiles. Accountable to the President, SECDEF, and CDRUSSTRATCOM for launch actions of 50 ICBMs upon direction. Responsible for the upkeep of five alert facilities; maintains quality of life of 10 ops, security, and support personnel.

Commands a combat ready missile crew; responsible for crew's proficiency and professional development. While on ACP alert, assumes command of wing combat assets in emergency/wartime- a competitively manned position. Accountable to the President, SECDEF, and CDRUSSTRATCOM for launch actions of 50 ICBMs upon direction. Monitors 100 additional ICBMs, directs 15 missile crews and oversees $3.3B in weapon systems.
