The Bohn Group specializes in using the tools of molecular nanotechnology to define the state-of-the-art in chemical analysis of mass-limited-samples. My research focused on the macro-scale effects of quantum phenomena in atomic-scale bimetallic junctions, and how these effects can be used in applications ranging from memristive behavior to chemical sensors. Publications have ranged from filament formation through thin films of polymer electrolytes, nanoparticle self-assembly into sub-wavelength structures, electrochromic sensors, and electro-optical single-molecule cross-correlation.

The Armani group focuses on the development of novel optical devices and their use in detecting chemical and biological systems. My project involved surface chemistry, specifically polymer coatings on the surface of silica microtoroid photoresonators in order to observe any change in the quality factor of the resonator. In the course of my research, I performed normal, halogen-exchange, and ARGET ATRP as well as free-radical polymerization in the creation of statistical and block copolymers.
