About Garrison Harward
I believe deeply in service and have dedicated my life to making a meaningful impact on the world. My journey began with the Peace Corps in Senegal, where I had the privilege of living in a rural Serere village and working alongside community members on various development projects. Since then, I have been fortunate to contribute to a range of initiatives and collaborate with incredible individuals who share a commitment to grassroots, service-oriented community engagement.When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted my career in live events, I found a new avenue for service by joining the Red Cross as a full-time volunteer Disaster Action Team supervisor in New York City. Having previously served on Red Cross deployments to Puerto Rico and the California wildfires, this experience allowed me to serve my own city and neighbors during an unprecedented time.Today, as the Executive Director of the Andando Foundation, I am honored to lead an organization that empowers rural communities in Senegal. We work hand-in-hand with local partners in the areas of health, education, agriculture, and microfinance to empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty.Feel free to connect with me to learn more about our mission and the amazing work we are doing at Andando.

Mr. Harward’s primary responsibilities were to consult with local farmers and agricultural groups to improve their yields and management practices, to facilitate agricultural trainings on soil fertility management, integrated pest management, composting, and improved field crop varieties, and to establish local pilot farmers who could serve as sources for improved seed varieties and agricultural practices.Along with these primary responsibilities Mr. Harward also took on substantial secondary work in order to fulfill the needs of his community. These activities included reforesting over 70,000 beneficial trees, constructing latrines in 2 villages, establishing local manufacturing of sustainable well pumps, planning and implementing two girls leadership camps, and designing improved training materials and policies for volunteer interactions with pesticides.
