Field Representative for District 3 Supervisor Mike Maggard. Managed multiple zones of responsibility across constituent services, scheduling, and special projects. Formulated the formal Board of Supervisors assessment of the Kern Complete Count Committee Census outreach budget, including the introduction of over $100,000 in cost-saving measures and waste elimination. Assisted countless constituents on matters ranging from code compliance, sheriff’s office relations/reporting, homelessness, road repairs and improvements, assistance with Kern Housing Authority complaints, food permit appeals, referrals to other governmental offices etc. Was responsible for extensive scheduling for the Supervisor and Chief of Staff. Actively ran the Supervisor’s Facebook account, and often worked with KGET 17 on proactive public relations management and announcements of major county initiatives. Personally inspected Rathbun Library, compiled list of needed repairs and navigated bureaucratic red tape to provide overhaul repairs to the facility, while preparing comprehensive plan for upgrades. Proactively pushed for differed maintenance on county elevator systems. Led county emergency response to RV park power outage including GET bus coordination, emergency cooling centers, and church food drop offs. Crafted official legislative correspondence to Sacramento committees on behalf of local pro-life advocacy groups. Attended monthly meetings on Public Works. Located over $600,000 in Oildale Investment fund previously neglected by the CAOs office. Prepped weekly staff notes for Supervisor Board meeting preparation on topics ranging from local vendor preference policy to cannabis regulation. Acted as official monthly liaison to meetings of the Oildale Community Action Team, and to various ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Provided assistance to and staffing for the Supervisor and Chief of Staff at various community events and pursued special assignments as directed.

Assembled Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Authority monthly meeting binders for all board members, assisted in submitting a grant drawdown for Proposition 1 Water Administrative Grant for Kern County, attended IWVGA monthly meetings in Ridgecrest including confidential debrief lunches with Kern County Supervisors, deputy counsel, and chiefs of staff. Compiled impact fees from multiple counties for comparative purposes vs. impact fees under consideration by Kern. Edited various official correspondence documents on behalf of County Administrative Officer (CAO) and Deputy CAO. Assisted with scheduling, filing, and technical troubleshooting for video conferencing.

Compiled extensive research of district issues into a debate preparation binder for Karen Goh. Twice interviewed by 23ABC regarding Karen’s campaign. Developed multiple social media video ads for Karen Goh’s mayoral election, as well as a social media video adaption of a radio ad for Tiffany Organ-Bowles for Judge. Assisted with the creation of campaign letters. Both were elected successfully.

Acted as a liaison by phone between local constituents and district caseworkers, as well as answering constituent questions. Also directed callers to other government agencies. Drafted written communication on behalf of the congressman, which ranged in topics from VA casework to congratulatory greetings, as well as a speech for Memorial Day. Typed hundreds of certificates for school student awards, provided check-in and clean up/tear down assistance at congressional district events, made phone calls on behalf of caseworkers to other federal departments and representative offices, organized mailers, stamped paperwork and envelopes, filed casework, sorted mail, clipped news, and provided assistance with many other office tasks. Internship was to be 5 weeks; was asked to remain a further 7 weeks paid.

Olive Drive Campus

Recruited 50 volunteers by phone, mail, and personal interaction for the launch of the Hospitality/Guest Services Ministry at Valley’s new campus. Established training schedules, departmental procedures, and job systems for the 50 volunteers and assigned them into the 4 different positions of service within the department. Attended confidential staff leadership and planning meetings.
