Jack Garrity is the Director of the Pacita Abad Art Estate, and formerly Executive Director of the Asia Society in Washington DC.Jack graduated from Harvard University, earned a MBA from Stanford University and a MA in Economics from Boston University. However, his most important education has come from being a ‘Roads Scholar’ traveling across more than 100 countries around the globe.During his 35-year professional career, Jack lived and worked in Asia, Africa and Latin America for over 20 years with international corporations, multilateral institutions, investment consulting firms and non-profit organizations.Jack’s international career began with a stay in Morocco, followed by: a Peace Corps public health program in Ethiopia; travel up the Amazon and across the Andes, hitchhiking the length of Africa from France to South Africa; crossing the Sahara into West Africa; and hitchhiking across Asia from Turkey to the Philippines. After starting his career with the CBO in DC, he went overseas and worked for 5 years on rural development projects in the Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya and the Dominican Republic. Jack then worked for the ADB in Manila, IFC in Washington DC, Gajah Tunggal Group in Jakarta, and Tuan Sing Holdings in Singapore.In his early days, Jack’s focus was ice hockey and he was a two-time High School All American, Captain of the Harvard Hockey team, Assistant Coach at West Point and played for a number of teams in the US, Europe and South Africa. For the past 30 years Jack has been very active in arts management assisting his late wife, Philippine-American painter Pacita Abad, organize over 30 museum and gallery painting exhibitions, and public art projects in Asia, Europe and the US. He has also written a number of art monographs and catalogues, developed websites and organized archival databases.Jack is married to Kristi from Indonesia, and they now manage Pacita Abad Art Estate in Los Angeles, CA.
