I obtained my PGCE in 2014 from Stellenbosch University. I have experience in teaching both the IEB and CAPS Curriculums. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I am passionate about education and I trust that my love for the children I teach, dedication towards my work and passion for my subjects stand me in good stead in the classroom. I strongly believe that I connect well with the learners that I come into contact with on a daily basis as I strive to assist them in the discovery of their own unique potential. I am adamant about wanting to make a positive contribution towards the lives of my colleagues and learners. When asked to describe my job, I can only explain it by saying that teaching is my high, my passion and my dream. My love for the classroom and the children within it, my ability to adapt to change and remain calm in stressful situations, and the fun and positive energy that I try to bring into my lessons are some of the reasons why I wake up every morning and look forward to the day that lies ahead. I feel incredibly lucky to live my passion every single day.In May of 2018, my father asked me if I would join the family business. A construction company which he and my mom started from the ground up in 1990. It was an opportunity that was always a possibility. After much thought and consideration, I agreed and I started working for the family business in September of that year. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I missed teaching every single day. There were advantages to this career: I earned more money, I ran my own team, and I had a more flexible working day. However, I longed for the learners in my classroom, the comradery of the teaching world and the fun-filled conversations in the staffroom. As such, in 2020, I made the difficult decision to leave my family business and return to teaching. This is a decision that I am yet to regret, and I doubt that I ever will.I pride myself on my established, yet constantly improving, pedagogy; my work-ethic; and my life-long commitment to learning. I am enthusiastic and I strive to please. I shall continuously endeavor to ensure that the education I deliver to the students I teach will develop them into critical thinkers and humble, capable adults.
