Took a much earned break for long service leave and family affairs during 2017.Delivered over $75m worth of electrification and automation infrastructure during 2013-2016 to the Anglo American Grosvenor underground mine project including the Moranbah North CHPP upgrade. I was integral to the successful delivery and commissioning of over 20 MV/LV Switch Rooms, two 66/11kV HV Substations, conveyors, CHP and stockpile machines for the project. Both from a supplier perspective (two years with ABB Minerals) and from the client side (two years on the Grosvenor Project owners team).

Grosvenor Underground Mine And Moranbah North Chpp Upgrade

Owners lead electrical engineer on the Grosvenor construction project and upgrades to Moranbah North CHPP and facilities as part of the Grosvenor Project.• Managed the client electrical and automation project processes to upgrade the Moranbah North Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) including all required HV and LV infrastructure.• Provided safety leadership to ensure all electrical activity was conducted safely and to relevant regulations.• Managed site and consultant engineering teams to deliver procurement, construction and commissioning of all electrical and automation upgrades.• Managed client procurement activity required to monitor and deliver nine switchrooms which included 11kV switchboards, 415V MCCs, Rockwell 415V VVVF Drives, AB Control Logix PLCs and Citect HMI. The 11kV power systems management utilised 61850 communications for upstream trips and monitoring.• Managed the Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS replacement in the Moranbah North CHPP as part of the CHPP Upgrade Project with Citect HMI and AB Control Logix PLCs. While DCS are not common in coal mining CHPPs and TLOs they are among the most reliable control system platforms available with almost zero downtime if maintained and installed with some level of network and processor redundancy. This DCS was originally installed as part of the "greenfield" Moranbah North Project in early 1999 and ran flawlessly for 17 years before total replacement in early 2016.• Managed and provided technical leadership to the site and consulting engineers.• Managed the compliance to regulations of electrical systems and processes.

Process Automation Division - Mining, Darra, Queensland

Delivered 13 MV and LV switchrooms and substations sucessfully for the Grosvenor Project, leading a team of engineers in order to develop, design, deliver and commission an integrated electrical solution that met the performance expectations of the client.• Managed a team of engineers to deliver surface electrical infrastructure for the Anglo American Grosvenor Underground Coal Mine.• Managed project activities including as supplier delivery of thirteen switchrooms and two 66/11kV 30/40MVA substations including 66kV ABB GIS PASS Switchgear, 11kV ABB ZS1 Arc Fault contained switchgear and ABB MNS 415V Arc Fault Contained MCCs and ABB 690V Water Cooled ACS800 Multi-drive VSDs. The HV and MV power systems utilised 61850 communications including GOOSE.• Managed the technical review and input to bids and proposals for electrical and automation projects other than the Grosvenor Project.• Provided business development within minerals group supporting client contacts and interactions leading to project execution opportunities.• Provided training and input to minerals group understanding of the business operations and functioning of mining organisations, their project pipelines and stage gating processes.• Provided input to compliance and regulatory understanding of mining electrical systems and processes.

As the Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) for the Shell Coal group, I was involved in all major projects to ensure that the latest proven technology was used and adopted across the group.Major Projects included:Owners Engineer (OE) for the EC&I scope of Dartbrook Coal Preparation Plant (CPP) Dewatering Project using membrane press filters fed by high pressure slurry pumps.PM and OE for EC&I components of the Moranbah North Mine "greenfield" Project including all Surface & Underground Control Systems, all Coal Handling & Preparation Plant (CHPP) EC&I systems including Yokogawa Centum CS DCS, Stacker/Reclaimer & TLO systems, site HV supply and distribution.The Moranbah North Mine CHPP Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS control system was replaced with Citect HMI over AB Control Logic PLCs as part of the Grosvenor Project, the Yokogawa DCS operated flawlessly for 17 years from early 1999 until replacement in early 2016. PM and OE for all EC&I system components of the Dartbrook Mine CHPP Project including the Citect HMI and AB PLCs, MCCs, Transformers & site HV distribution systems.Site Construction Superintendent, PM and OE of the Southern Colliery Transport Project including all EC&I systems, management of all subcontractors covering civil, mechanical, process equipment, electrical and control systems, commissioning of works for the 6km transport system. The transport system included a reclaim tunnel under a longwall production stockpile, feeders, linking conveyors, rotary breaker/scalping screen crushing station, 5km overland curved conveyor, driven by VSDs, 1000t surge bin and transfer conveyor to existing CHPP infrastructure.PM of the German Creek CHPP control system upgrade to a Yokogawa Centum XL DCS without a major production shutdown. This control system was recently replaced as part of the Lake Lindsay CHPP upgrade to the German Creek infrastructure to a Citect HMI over AB Control Logix PLCs after operating flawlessly for 14 years.

As the Systems Superintendent I was responsible for the operations and development of computer systems at the Port Waratah Coal Services Carrington, Newcastle coal loader. This included both technical and commercial, port databases and PISCES (Port Information System for Coal Export Services)Systems managed included daily reporting of coal movements, ship loading, cargo assembly and quality monitoring, remote access terminals from shippers and all commercial computers and databases.

As a graduate engineer I was involved in process improvement projects from stockpile machine anticollision, conveyor sequencing, relay replacement with PLC, belt weigher calibration and management (26 weighers across 11 coal streams), vibratory feeder automation and calibration, isolation and safey related activity.
