Based in New York and relocated to London for 2-years, I managed Emerging Market spot, forward and deposit portfolios up to and through the Asian currency crisis. Capitalizing on SCB's standing as the premire emerging market bank, I was a principal architect of a global business strategy to establish Standard Chartered’s presence in the Latin American non-deliverable forward market. The key components were development and implementation of a business plan to offer Latin American pricing to clients, and the ability to maintain proprietary positions and manage risk in the major Latin American currencies. To maximize regional knowledge and information flow, cultivated new relationships with international institutions. We lveraged the bank’s onshore presence in the Andean region to develop a local Latin American physical currency product, opened currency nostro accounts to augment the product, and functioned as the global contact on Latin American non-deliverable forwards within Standard Chartered.
