Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation is the PBI that manages the 18,000 sq km of the native title determination that covers Hedland and the land and waters around it. Acted as CEO for 6 months following the resignation of the previous CEO, pending an executive search. My role is managing the daily financial operations of the Corporation, encompassing cost recovery on Native Title rights negotiations and Heritage & Cultural activities, Memberships, ORIC reporting and Finance - managing AP, AR, Payroll, Management & Board reporting, audit, statutory reporting, Fixed Assets, developing the chart of accounts to improve granularity and transparency of reporting, grant applications for funding to implement a replacement ERP, IT services and developing data management structures to safeguard and enhance the IP of the organisation and its’ members.

iBase - Indigenous business advisory services - is a business unit of the Wunan Foundation, based in Kununurra. iBase provides a full range of accounting and business services to indigenous corporations all over the state. In my role I work with 2 book keepers providing financial control to 3 clients in the East Kimberley. I provide Budgeting, reporting performance against budget to management and external stakeholders, balance sheet reconciliations, overseeing AP, AR & payroll, statutory reporting BAS, IAS, ABS, ORIC, ACNC and other grant providers, grant acquittals, audit liaison, fixed asset accounting, board and AGM presentations and a range of business advice.

Manage all Finance and Administration functions for a member services buying group that includes the Makit Hardware banner and Tradesmart.Perform all month end closes, reconciliations, financial reporting - P or L, Balance sheet & cash flow forecasting, performance against budget, EOFY reporting, liaise with external auditors, payroll, statutory reporting - BAS & IAS, FBT, payroll tax, superannuation, reporting to Board of Directors monthly. Run all member rebate programs, liaising with suppliers and members to ensure payments are accurate and timely.Recently implemented MS Dynamics NAVision as the Group ERP to replace a number of legacy systems, migrating seamlessly from Accpac and MYOB, developing a number of interfaces to upload transactional data to the new system.

In this role I used my exceptional written communication skills to develop a presentation that won a national contest (saving the company $200K) to implement Greentree as the ERP to replace 14 separate iterations of MYOB, and as part of managing the implementation, I had to develop a comprehensive coding schema from the ground up that allowed us to report by consolidated company, region, business unit, division, department or cost centre with minimal effort.As the package didn’t come with any inbuilt financial reports, I designed and implemented the complete suite of financial reports for the company, as well as developing interfaces to import sales and cost data from the different Point of Sale systems in the companies’ outlets.I was responsible for the financial reporting, budgeting, administration, corporate services and IT operations of 14 separate business units scattered across the Kimberley region, reviewing all trial balance reconciliations period by period so year-end closes are fast and smooth.As well as preparing year end financials and statutory reporting, BAS, FBT and payroll tax returns, liaising with the external auditors, tax accountants and finance providers, I managed a team that provided AP & AR support to the businesses and collectd and reported financial detail, decision support information and periodic performance against budget to business unit managers, senior management and the board of directors.I managed the full range of Corporate Service management, including fixed assets, facilities management, insurance and risk assessment, Motor vehicle and vessel fleet management and ICT systems design, implementation and maintenance.

Reported to Financial Controller of a $350M restart of the largest Vanadium mine in the country, worked on site and in the JV Project cost control office.In the cost control office I used my system skills to confirm data from the cost control system against the Pronto GL that highlighted a shortfall in capital required to completion of over $200M that resulted in the CFO being able to convince the board to seek additional funding before existing sources expired.
