I spent 9 months managing the Scotland office while a colleague was on maternity leave. This involved being the lead APSE contact in Scotland in charge of our events programme and advisory groups, managing a team of 3 members of staff (including carrying out several HR functions such as appraisals and one-to-ones), representing the organisation at party political conferences and fringes, and generally carrying out any other activity that supports maintaining our membership of all 32 Scottish local authorities and other public sector organisations, and our network of local government officers and councillors.

I worked in Hairmyres Hospital on a temporary basis for just under a year administratively processing medical samples. I often acted as an unofficial IT support and developed several time saving measures that were adopted by neighbouring laboratories (such as embedding regularly used time-consuming coding into QR codes). I also assisted in the training of several members of staff with learning difficulties as part of Project Search.

I spent several months interning in Christina's constituency office on a part-time basis. My duties included drafting Parliamentary Motions and Questions, doing constituency-based research, developing local campaigns, attending surgeries and providing general administrative support.
