Within this role, I was responsible for the ongoing management of a set of global airline partner relationships for the Avios global reward currency. I had full accountability for managing the accrual and redemption aspects of airline Frequent Flyer Programmes and Frequent Buyer Programmes in order to hit the Avios Group (AGL) Limited business plan targets. My primary responsibilities included detailed commercial analysis including forecasting and budgeting, negotiating & influencing as well as stakeholder management on a more strategic level. Within this cross functional role, I worked with a huge variety of departments which was important in driving change within the air partner area, and often meant being the air business lead with IT development projects. Within the role, I also project managed the implementation of new airline bi-lateral contracts. This included objectives such as raising business cases and budget, IT implementation between airlines and moving to business as usual. I also managed a team, ensuring that objectives and KPI’s are met, stretching and developing various skill sets.

As a Global Flight Pricing Manager, I looked after the redemption flight pricing for Iberia and ROW Airlines. I engaged with various stakeholders across different departments (incl. marketing and finance) at a variety of different levels within and outside of Avios in order to discuss performance of KPI’s and pricing products. I modeled information from a variety of sources and used this to make informed decisions by running commercial analysis for promotions and propositions before and after the products are released as well as forecast annual performance reviews. Key areas for review included seasonality impact, market conditions, customer benefits and historical performance. The information obtained allowed me to advise others or make decisions with regard to any changes to the product propositions and maximise opportunities. When advising others I provided analysis, advice and recommendations to drive the pricing strategies in line with the commercial objectives. This was done verbally, through written reports and presentations.

The role included exposure to balance sheets, budgets, the business plan and forecasts for new business. A major project completed during this placement involved revamping and improving the Pricing Rate Card. Business development teams can now use this rate card as a guide when initial pricing is considered for collection partners.

Strategic Pricing Analyst (Graduate Trainee)

This placement consists of two projects as well as business as usual (BAU). The BAU work completed consisted of dashboard creation, maintenance and communicating the results. Analysis around competition, redemption products (hotel, flights and ancillaries) and payments was also provided. The main project was creating a reward pricing elasticity tool in Excel. This tool was designed to show users the optimum promotional discount on offer to customers in order to maximise set KPI’s. This project won the “Travel and Pricing Department Award” upon completion. The second project involved the analysis of set hotels which appear on www.avios.com. The analysis considered current hotel performance (using various sources) and suggested ways to improve performance by changing the order the hotels get displayed to the customer. An internal Intermediate Excel course was also completed during the placement.
