An international student-athlete with a Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering and a Master's Degree (MSc) in Coastal Engineering. Currently enrolled in the Coastal Engineering PhD program at Jackson State University as a PhD Candidate. My research work in graduate school has revolved around hurricane surge and forerunner surge in the Gulf of Mexico. However, I have experience dealing with coastline erosion, coastal defenses, and the development and maintenance of harbor channels and throughways. Outside of the classroom I enjoyed 6 years in the Division 1 Baseball program at JSU (5 years as a player and 1 year as an assistant coach). I have participated in several tours with the South African National Baseball team (U18 tour against Great Britain, 2 x U23 World Cup, 2 x World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and 1 x Olympic Qualifiers).Unfortunately, as an international student in the U.S. who has continuously been enrolled in courses from freshman year through to PhD Candidacy, I haven't had the opportunity of getting as much in field experience as I would like. I have, however, partaken in several unpaid internship programs that have provided some experience in the civil and coastal engineering fields.
