The Center for International Development (CID) serves as a place for faculty with shared interests in alleviating poverty and contributing to the economic and social development of the world's most fragile and needy countries to come together, write proposals, and execute projects. CID serves as a collaborative international research support unit.CID's initial emphasis will be on applying for and managing grants in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan due to the rapid and large increase in U.S. government aid to those countries. The primary sponsors are the U.S. State Department, United States Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of Defense, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, World Bank and Asian Development Bank. CID will also seek sub-contracts from State Department contractors including the Academy for Educational Development.•Executes 8 international grants valued at $8 million focusing on Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan universities to build capacity and sustainability •Derive capacity and sustainability of Ball State University to fulfill objectives•Strategizes with grant writer on proposal resources, options and opportunities•Supervises 6 graduate students from USA, Jordan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran•Develops International Travel guide for faculty as an in-service handout•Leads plan for first ever BSU Iraqi Fulbright Scholar applications•Hosts Iraqi delegation; coordinating activities, events, volunteers and excursion•Negotiates and implements conferences to be held in Amman, Erbil, Kuala Lumpur, and Washington D.C. and at BSU Indy Center
