About Garth Van De Vanter

I'm a mechanical design engineer with experience designing HV battery enclosures for electric cars. At Lucid Motors I helped develop an industry leading battery pack. Before Lucid I spent time with the Formula SAE team at Oregon State University, and previously worked on commercial electric trucks at Motiv Power Systems. I have always valued hands-on experience in the form of manufacturing, testing, and repair, and am always looking for ways to get my hands dirty. Experience with all phases of product design including concept development, CAD (Catia V6 and Solidworks), GD&T, BOM management, testing, supplier relations, and quality management.I'm a versatile engineer interested in automotive, aerospace, and robotics.

Processes include CNC machining, CFRP composites, 3D printing and rapid prototyping, CNC waterjet cutting, manual machining, and hands-on assembly work. The car, along with its driverless counterpart, will be compete in FSAE events in California, Germany, and Spain.
