🇿🇦Project Manager Digitalisation +120 Staff Members, 1000 Clients Per Night
Cape Town Area, South Africa
The Haven Night Shelter in Cape Town facilitates over 1000 clients per night in and around Cape Town. I was responsible for the transition from an analogue to a digital working organisation varying from Marketing and Communication to the development of an online client registration system. Because there are about 1,000 homeless persons per night in the 15 Haven locations, there is a need for monitoring a client’s progress and whereabouts. The process was paper based and required a lot of time effort and was sensitive for mistakes. I developed and implemented a central digital client registration system which reduced the time effort significantly and improved the quality of the data. I created an excel tool using vba scripts. To make it easy to work with, especially for non-computer literate people, I paid much attention to the interface. Once internet became reliable, I moved the system to an online environment using a content management system. I trained the staff members and showed them of the usefulness of the tool. Now more than 50 staff members are working with the system on a daily basis.Furthermore, I initiated and developed the “Buy a Bed” fundraising campaign in 2014. I designed the artwork, took care of the marketing via digital and non-digital content, designed the website, launched a social media campaign and created various ways of making online contributions. The result was an increase of 20% of donations in the annual year 2016. The year 2017, we already exceeded the amount of previous year’s revenue and The Haven had over 5,500 new donors.
